Sodexo Chosen as a 2009 Top 100 Employer by The Black Collegian Magazine

Sodexo, a leading integrated food and facilities management services company, earned a spot on the list of the top 100 U.S. employers by The Black Collegian Magazine, which selected employers based on the projected number of college grads to be hired in 2009, the number of campuses highlighted for recruitment, and the top majors hired.

Sodexo’s plan to recruit on 38 campuses this year — and its outreach and recruiting at events such as the annual National Society of Minorities in Hospitality Conference (NSMH) — place the company as a leader in talent acquisition among college graduates, the magazine said.

In interviews with recent graduates hired by Sodexo, training, mentoring and internship programs were cited as Sodexo’s edge in attracting and preparing employees to succeed. “Each day I’m exercising my leadership skills and learning from the people around me to be the best I can be,” said Rythda Destime, who graduated from Penn State University in 2008 with a degree in hotel, restaurant and institutional management and joined Sodexo in August as a patient services manager for a Manhattan nursing home.

“I gained so much when I interned with Sodexo, and now that I’m working as a manager Sodexo has opened my eyes to a lot of new experiences and possibilities that I don’t think I could’ve gotten anywhere else,” said Destime.

The Black Collegian’s Top 100 Employers are determined by a survey of major employers. The results are presented in the February issue distributed at over 800 campuses and online at
