GETTIN’ GROWN to be Released on the American Black Film Festival DVD Series Label

Film Life, Inc., announces the domestic home entertainment release of the riveting family movie GETTIN’ GROWN. The film, an official selection of the 2007 American Black Film Festival, is slated for release on April 22, 2008. Film Life has partnered with Warner Home Video to distribute the movie for home entertainment under its ABFF DVD Series label. GETTIN’ GROWN is a thought-provoking film that tells the powerful story of a family’s struggle to raise a child in the inner city, where some get lost and some get grown. Twelve-year-old Eric is sent to fill a prescription for his grandmother. On his journey through the neighborhood, things become unexpectedly complicated as he is forced to make decisions that seem logical to him, but which in fact bring him to the brink of danger. The question is, will he make the right choices? The film is written and directed by Aaron Greer and produced by Dr. Fran Kaplan and Anthony Ferraro. It stars Isaiah Matthew, Ginger Manning, Patricia Bridges, Xavier O’Ryan, Jerome Pulley Jr., John Luckett and Timothy “Cutt Up” McGee. “This film is essential viewing for children and parents alike. It depicts the modern-day struggles one faces growing up in an urban environment, without resorting to the mainstream media’s sensationalized focus on drugs, sex and violence,” said Jeff Friday, Founder/CEO of Film Life, Inc. Aaron Greer, the film’s director, said, “My vision was to develop the characters and setting of a movie in which Americans of all colors could see a realistic portrayal of an inner-city African American family. The story I created essentially contains universal themes with which all ethnic groups can identify.” GETTIN’ GROWN has been awarded the Dove Foundation seal of approval as “wholesome entertainment for the whole family.” The Dove Foundation, founded in 1991, encourages and promotes the creation, production, distribution and consumption of film and video that all generations can enjoy.
