LeBron James to Host Third Season of King’s Academy Summer Basketball Camp

LeBron James today announced the third season of the King’s Academy summer basketball camp for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18. King’s Academy will take place at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, from June 21-25, 2008.

LeBron, who led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Championship series last season and who recently became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 9,000 career points, will be assisted by an elite coaching staff from across the country. LeBron will interact with the campers, provide instruction, referee games and scrimmage. In addition, special guests may come by to meet with campers and offer personal insights.

Youths attending King’s Academy will have access to modern, indoor facilities and be instructed in the basic fundamentals of basketball, including shooting, passing and dribbling. Campers will be able to take photos with LeBron, receive an autograph authenticated by Upper Deck and have the opportunity to ask LeBron questions about his game, the Cavs and his life off the court.

King’s Academy will offer both overnight and day camper sessions. “I am very excited for the third season of the King’s Academy summer camp,” said LeBron. “The camp is committed to teaching kids how to improve their basketball skills and increase their knowledge of the game. Another goal is to get them to understand that what they do off the court, in their schools and communities, is just as important as having a good jump shot. Everyone is going to learn a lot and have a great time.”
