Five-time GRAMMY® winner John Legend will perform an acoustic in-flight concert onboard Delta Air Lines’ (NYSE: DAL) new GRAMMY-branded aircraft for lucky music fans flying from New York to Los Angeles for the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards, scheduled to be broadcast Sunday, Feb. 10 (8-11 p.m. ET/PT) from STAPLES Center on the CBS Television Network. As the Official Airline of the GRAMMY Awards, Delta is partnering with The Recording Academy® and CBS to host this unique performance at 30,000 feet to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the music industry’s most coveted honor. “The Recording Academy is pleased to align with like-minded partners such as Delta who are forward-thinking, innovative, and recognize and support excellence in their field,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. “This new long-term partnership brings with it even more unique and innovative opportunities to further raise excitement about our upcoming 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards and beyond.” “Delta customers love high-flying entertainment, and we couldn’t think of a better match than to be aligned with the GRAMMY Awards, a renowned organization and entertainment event, as its Official Airline,” said Tim Mapes, vice president of Marketing for Delta. “We are proud to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic awards through a unique, exciting event that aligns with the inventive spirit of our brand. Delta will be honored to host John Legend and 50 of his biggest fans on our special GRAMMY-branded aircraft that is, appropriately, GRAMMY-bound.” “I look forward to performing this unique concert in the skies with my biggest fans,” said John Legend. “It’s certainly something I’ve never done before, so if you want to join me for a free ride to the GRAMMY Awards, enter the contest. Let’s get lifted!” “What better way to engage music fans across the country and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the GRAMMY Awards than with this groundbreaking in-flight concert experience,” said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events, CBS. “Lucky winners will have a very special opportunity to experience a John Legend concert up close and personal at 30,000 feet.” Winning music fans who have won the CBS sweepstakes, along with one guest each, will receive a boarding pass for Delta’s “GRAMMY Flight,” which departs New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Feb. 7 en route to Los Angeles International Airport. Before the flight departs, John Legend and GRAMMY officials will join Delta to unveil a special new livery that commemorates the GRAMMY Awards’ 50th anniversary. Delta’s Boeing 757 will be branded with the iconic gramophone symbol adjacent to the front boarding door and, on a larger scale, on the front left side of the aircraft.
