Teen Female Golfer Zakiya Randall Emerges As Rising Star

The Georgia PGA has become quite familiar with Zakiya Randall over the years – and now the nation’s taking notice of the young Atlantan.

Randall, who began playing golf in 2001 at age 10, was named a Player of the Year by the Atlanta Junior Golf Association in her first year of competitive play in 2002.

She has since gone on to effectively dominate her division in the Georgia PGA Junior Tour and win various high profile junior tournaments across the country.

For instance, in the 2002-2003 season, Randall emerged a leader in the Plantation Junior Golf Tour, capturing wins in majors at Duke University, the University of North Carolina, Harbour Town in Hilton Head, S.C., and Chateau Elan, Georgia. She finished off the Plantation tour by winning the championship in Orlando, Florida.

During her 2005 campaign, Randall won every tournament she entered in her division in the Georgia PGA Junior Tour, as well as the overall champion title.

Randall has also recently joined the PGA’s Hole-in-One club after dropping in a shot from 180 yards out on a par 3 hole.

“I’ve had so much fun on the PGA Junior Tour, and I’m really excited about playing this summer,” Zakiya Randall said. “I’ve been working really hard this winter to get better and improve my swing … My dream right now is to play on the LPGA Tour one day.”
